You make mistakes and learn from them

Tonight, I went to a SAAC event that was really good. They hosted a speaker, his name was Aaron Cooksey. He told his story to all of the athletes at Geneva, but there were also some non-athletes there aka they took up a few seats that I could have sat in. Im still bitter about that. However, he spoke on Drunk driving and his experiences while drinking and driving. He said a lot of things that stuck out to me during the course of his speech, but one thing that really struck me is when he said "You make mistakes and learn from them". Yes, I have heard that quote plenty of times, but not coming from someones testimony. I think that is why it struck me so much than anyone else that just has randomly told me so.

I have made a lot of mistakes in the past and Im currently still making mistakes. All the mistakes that I have made in the past have made me the person who I am today. Although mistakes are not a good thing I think it is imperative we as individuals make mistakes on a regular basis even though we do not want to. It's always good to make BIG MISTAKES too sometimes. We make the mistake, we learn from them and we can take that experience and share it to others so that they dont make the same mistake you once did. So, mistakes will come upon you at somepoint. Make the mistake, but at the same time please please I encourage all of you to learn, and take something away from it!

Please visit Aaron Cooksey site and spread the word about him. His story is really good, and if you want to hear his story just ask me and I would be glad to share his story with you.

  1. I've heard of that guy, I think I even heard him speak before...maybe?

I love all the mistakes I have made. Although quite a few of them have almost led to me going to jail, having my car seized by the police, and losing my athletic and academic scholarship in college and even worse death and endangering the lives of others! (I'll tell you stories later if you want to know)

Through all the mistakes however I have become a better person and I LOVE the person I have become! I still screw up, but I will never make the same mistake more than once! That's the key. We will make mistakes for the rest of our lives, but it becomes a problem when we continue to make the same ones and never learn! We also need to learn from the mistakes of others.
